The MishMash Bubble Diagram
It was created by designers from Appex based on a rough sketch I had made for presentations held before we wrote the application:
This was again inspired by a figure I have used in several previous lectures on musical AI:
However, for the final application document, we wanted something more professional-looking, so I reached out to the design company that had created the RITMO emblem.
The idea was to showcase two important things:
- That AI is a meeting point between humans and machines
- That MishMash will conduct both artistic and scientific research
I also asked the designers to come up with something “fresh”. Interestingly, the colours they chose resemble an alpine skiing outfit I had as a teenager in the 1990s, but styles repeat in 30-year cycles, so it should be “fresh” today.
The MishMash Cube
The design company was asked also to create a corresponding figure of the “MishMash Cube”, a visual summary of the way we plan to organise the centre:

We will probably change this as we move forward, but it is good to have some visual elements to start from.
